Another Quiet Day
It was another quiet day in the market. There will be no comments this evening. Below is our performance summary and market diary data.
The SP-500 closed @ 2081.71 (+3.13 / +0.15%). The Nasdaq-100, weighed down by Apple Inc (AAPL) lagged @ 4641.73 (-13.79 / -0.30%) while the Rusell-2000 held @ 1187.70 (+3.27 / +0.28%).
The VIX closed @ 15.29 (-1.23 / -7.45%).
Treasury rates took a breather as the 10-Yr closed @ 23.22 (-0.20 / -0.85%) and the 30-Yr @ 30.94 (-0.12 / -0.39%).
The US Dollar Index resumed its upward march @ 99.18 (+0.17 / +0.17%).
Gold is finding some support as the selling has abated @ 1088.70 (+0.60 / +0.06%). WTI Crude Oil has now declined 5 consecutive days @ 43.63 (-0.24 / -0.55%).
The Dow Jones Real Estate Index @ 288.20 (+2.67 / +0.94%) is maintaining support at its 55-day moving average. Bouncing back with the strongest performance was the Dow Jones Home Construction Index @ 581.93 (+22.98 / +4.11%).
No one wants to sell right now in this market. The bears attacked but the bulls held their ground firmly. Nevertheless, we are still below the channel and until the SP-500 can close above it, I will remain cautious.
